Design for change - Projects

Dear Educators,

DESIGN FOR CHANGE is the largest global movement designed to give children an opportunity to express their own ideas for a better world and put them into action.

Children and adults learn through the Design for Change Challenge that “I Can” are the two most powerful words a person can believe. Children who have discovered this are changing their world.

This year, Design for Change reaches 34 countries and over 300,000 schools inspiring hundreds of thousands of children, their teachers and parents, to celebrate the fact change is possible and that they can lead that change!

The challenge asks students to do four very simple things: Feel, Imagine, Do and Share. Children are dreaming up and leading brilliant ideas all over the world, from challenging age-old superstitions in rural communities, to earning their own MONEY to finance school computers to solving the problem of heavy school bags – children are proving that they have what it takes to be able to ‘design’ a future that is desired.

Our School DFC projects:

* Lets make Waste as Wealth !!!

Our school students found many degradable and non degradable wastes around our school campus. They decided to convert the wastes into Wealth..?!.They collected the fallen leaves from the school campus and put them in a pit. Then they added cow dung for the  quick process of degradation. They bought some earth worms from Vivekanandha Kendra where imported Earth worms are available. They bought some African variety earth worms because they eat more wastes quickly than the Indian variety of earth worms. So the waste in to wealth process will be done very quickly. After a few weeks they found all the wastes were converted into earthworm manure. Our students packed it 250gm packets and sold them for Rs.5 /per pack.Our school secretary bought the first packet.Many teachers and students  bought the manure with interest.We sold many packets yet today and handed over the amount to our school administration.Our school administration appreciated our student's effort on waste management  .

This is one of the success story of our students...

Lets see how do they perform in the school..

  Route to root?
Story of change;
There was a root came out of the land and projected on the ground. Many students fall down and got injured by hitting their foot on the root. We thought that we should change this situation. First we decided to cut the root which is projected out side the ground. Then we realize this root helps the tree for better growth . If we cut the root, it will spoil the tree growth. So we decided to dig a pit along the route of the root. Then we kept the root under earth and closed the pit. Now its safe fpr our students to run walk safe in the ground. Thus we made a change in our school campus.
